Community Reader Days 2014
CALLING OUR COMMUNITY!
Twenty-Third Community Reader Days
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday- November 5,6,7, 2014
Purpose: Because a child’s ability to read is influenced not only by home and school environments, but also by the larger community, CRD seeks to inspire all area children to become readers who are eager to learn.
Action: More than 275 community volunteers are needed to read in Christian County’s 13 elementary schools. The total time is approximately one hour; the actual reading involves 20-25 minutes. Readers receive book texts prior to CRD and the actual books with their colorful illustrations are available at the schools. At the end of CRD, the Lit Council presents these books to each school’s library.
Benefits: Our schools will sense the support of the entire community; our students and their teachers will appreciate your caring commitment; YOUR participation will influence other community leaders to read.
The Christian County Literacy Council gratefully acknowledges the support of the principals, teachers, media/library specialists, and parents of all preschool, daycare, and elementary school students matriculating in Christian County. Special kudos to the community volunteer readers who make this annual event so very significant for our children.
