Hopkinsville Art Guild members Danny and Dottie Shepherd will give a presentation on the Mountain Dulcimer at the Brown Bag Lunch in the Hopkinsville Art Gallery at Noon on Wednesday, September 9th. The Shepherds are lifelong musicians who enjoy teaching and performing at Mountain Dulcimer Festivals. The "mountain," "lap" or "fretted" dulcimer originated in the Appalachian Mountains. The Shepherds will walk us through the history of the dulcimer, entertain us with a musical performance, and provide an opportunity for guests to play the instrument as well. Please feel free to arrive early to view the Shepherd's dulcimer display. The Hopkinsville Art Guild's Brown Bag Lunch programs are on the second Wednesday of each month at Noon in the Hopkinsville Art Gallery. Everyone is invited to enjoy their lunch in the Gallery during an hour of free entertainment with the featured guest in an atmosphere of fine art by local artists and artisans. If you phone in advance, brown bag lunches are available from The Place on 6th Street (270-874-5357), Kim's Ice Cream and Sweet Shoppe on 6th Street (270-886-4004), and Dot's American Restaurant on Main Street (270-885-6246). Beverages are available at the Gallery.
